Wow. Just. Wow.
In December, Laura Houston approached us about hosting a sock drive for the women at the Noel House Emergency Shelter. To us, it was a no brainer. Use our store to collect warm socks for women during Winter? Yes. Anytime.
To make it a little more interesting, we reached out to our sock friends at Balega International. We asked them to make a donation of 25 pairs of socks if we met our goal of collecting 250 pairs of socks. And because Balega is such a great partner, it was a no brainer for them.
So for the month of January, we asked you, our customers, neighbors, and training program participants, to bring in new or gently used pairs of socks. And the socks started coming. It was awesome. We even received a package of socks from Port Orchard. And our New Balance tech rep, Brian, stopped by with a very generous donation as well!
It was awesome. Come February 1st, our grand total was 401 pairs of socks. Add that to Balega's 25 pairs, and we're at 426 pairs. I was so impressed ....but it didn't stop there. Just a few days after our drive ended, Balega surprised us with another donation of 164 pairs of socks! Wow!
All told, 590 pairs of socks will be handed out at Noel House on Valentine's Day! Thank you to everyone who donated.
