Training

At Fleet Feet Seattle, we are all about helping you achieve your fitness goals.  Day in and day out, we are fitting shoes and equipping runners and walkers with the necessary equipment to exercise comfortably.  That's a large part of helping our customers toward their goals, but we also offer more in depth training programs.  These programs give you expert coaching and the camaraderie of a group all working toward a similar goal.

I came at this from a different place. Having nearly died last summer from acute kidney failure and being in the hospital 5 weeks I had to learn to walk again just to go home. Then I decided I would not live the rest of my life sitting on my butt. So I joined the No Boundaries program. It was really tough at first. Not only was I out of shape but overweight adding to the challenge. And I never got as quick as the younger members of the group. In the end that didn’t matter. What did matter was I finished the 5k May 1 and that set my baseline. Now I am running AND going to the YMCA 3 times a week to cross train. So I am way out and beyond where I was in February when our group started. Without a program and the group and the pressure to practice so I could do the group runs I would probably never got going again by myself. Since February 16 I have lost over 25 pounds and have more to go but it’s working. I was also diabetic but now no longer need pills to curb my blood sugar. My body is doing it on its own. I have decided for the rest of the summer I will be just running 5ks until I am a bit lighter on my feet and more sure of myself. I will always be thankful to Cassie and Natalie who at times ran along with me in group practice. That really encouraged me. Thank you.
